Sonia recently celebrated 15 years with the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada. A seasoned therapist, her career has taken her from Jasper, AB; working in the town’s physiotherapy clinic and high end spas, to practicing alongside some of Calgary’s best chiropractors and physios. She trained at Foothills College of Massage and has treated all sorts over the years; from elite athletes, to senior stroke victims. Early on she chose to focus her energies on specializing in head injuries, concussions, TMJD, migraines and chronic headaches, developing a detailed approach to treating the structures of the neck, head, jaw and face. A mother of two herself, she has a deep passion for pre/postnatal treatment, working with folks to help them spend their pregnancies as comfortable as possible, while also teaching and encouraging self care before and after delivery. Working more and more with children and teens, Sonia knows the impact massage can have on their understanding of their own bodies and health. It can be a safe environment to subtly teach a child how to advocate for themselves, how important it is to take care of themselves, and that what happens to their body is their choice. Inclusivity is at the heart of her work. She is an LGBTQ+ & BIPOC ally, and wants to acknowledge that ALL are deserving of care and welcome on her table. Sonia is enjoying the diverse clientele she sees at Mama Massage and loves being a part of each person’s unique wellness journey.
