  • Nicole Martin (MC, Registered Psychologist)

    Nicole has completed a Bachelor of Psychology with the University of Alberta and a Master of Counselling Psychology through Athabasca University. Nicole is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychological Association of Alberta. Nicole is eager to bring her playful soul to meet the playful souls in your life to foster their growth and healing!

    Nicole has spent almost 15 years focusing on supporting families and young children to navigate difficulties that arise due to developmental delays, ADHD, autism, behavioural issues, trauma, grief/loss, separations, emotional regulation, and anxiety. Nicole has experience working in clinical settings, shelters, schools, and within homes to provide therapy and support. In addition, Nicole places value in a multidisciplinary and comprehensive approach to understanding a child’s difficulties and welcomes consultation with teachers, paediatricians, and any other professionals involved in a child’s care.

    With deep compassion for children, Nicole has built her practice around therapeutic modalities which are strength based, rooted in attachment theory, are trauma-informed, and aim to extend that same compassion to a child’s parents and caregivers. In her integrative practice, Nicole will draw on play-based therapies such as Child-centered play therapy, Synergetic play therapy, Narrative Therapy, Expressive Arts therapies, Mindfulness practice, and Theraplay. Theraplay is a family and relationship-based therapy which can promote a stronger bond between caregiver and child, as well as, cooperation, emotional regulation, self-esteem, and resilience for children.   • Melissa Gray (MSc, Registered Psychologist)

    Melissa is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists and a member of the Psychologists Association of Alberta.
    She completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology at Saint Mary's University in Halifax Nova Scotia and her graduate studies at the University of Calgary, receiving a Master’s of Science degree in Counselling Psychology.
    Melissa also is a group facilitator, writer, community volunteer, and mother to an amazing five-year-old boy.

    Since 2008, Melissa has supported her clients to acquire the tools they need to achieve their desired dreams and hopes, goals, and to thrive during times of difficulty, change, and transition. Her counselling experience spans individual personal and workplace concerns, couples, teens, and families. She has worked in sectors such as community counselling, public health, second stage shelter, higher education, and now private practice.

    Melissa believes every person and couple has a unique set of discoverable personal strengths that can be applied to overcome obstacles and create flourishing lives. Melissa says: "It’s an honor to walk alongside people I work with who have the courage to do the work necessary to achieve life changes. Witnessing others change always inspires me and I have tangible strategies as well as hope to offer you for your journey."

    She has a collaborative approach to counselling and has been described as warm, affirming, highly empathetic, and compassionate. Melissa respecting her client's lived experience and views their knowledge and wisdom as vital to the therapy process.

    In counselling, she likes to use an integrated model of therapy to support holistic wellness. This includes talk therapy and skill building methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), the Science of Well-Being, and Strengths-based therapies (including Solution-Focused and Narrative therapy approaches), as well as trauma informed breathwork, mindfulness, and mind-body approaches (including emotional freedom technique EFT or “tapping”). Melissa is trained to provide EMDR, an effective method to support moving away from disturbing thoughts and memories. She is happy to provide more information at your request.

    In the first session together, she will explain her approach to counselling and welcome you to share any healing methods you personally find helpful.

    Her particular calling is to support new mothers (as well as fathers and all parents) and she has specialized knowledge to understand how to assist when this transition doesn’t go as expected and mental health surprises are part of new parenthood.

  • Colleen Harvey (MC, Registered Provisional Psychologist)

    Colleen Harvey, MC Registered Provisional Psychologist

    Colleen completed a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Counselling Psychology through Athabasca University. Colleen is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists, and she is a member of the Psychological Association of Alberta and the Canadian Psychological Association. Colleen’s desire to support young people and families began over a decade ago in her role as education assistant for students with special needs. Colleen remains committed to supporting children with disabilities and struggling families through her work with FSCD and CFS programming, when she is not seeing clients at Mama Massage.

    Colleen believes that clients are the experts of their lives, and she is firmly grounded in a client-led and culturally responsive approach to counselling. Colleen uses a collaborative approach when working with clients to uncover their strengths, recognize themselves as capable, and achieve their counselling goals. She draws from strengths-based, trauma-informed, and family systems theories in her with individuals, couples, and families, integrating narrative, solution-focused, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) techniques as determined by each client’s unique counselling needs. Colleen is also trained in basic EMDR Therapy and uses this approach to support clients in healing from past trauma that is affecting their current functioning.

    Establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship with clients is the key to successful therapy. Colleen feels deeply humbled to walk alongside her clients in their healing journey and she in awe of their strength to seek support and take action towards positive change.


  • Jacqueline Van Starkenburg (MC, Registered Provisional Psychologist)

    Jacquleine Van Starkenburg completed a diploma in early childhood care and education at Mount Royal University. She then went on to complete a Bachelor in child studies through Mount Royal University. Through Yorkville University she completed her Master of Art in Counselling Psychology. Jacqueline is registered as a provisional psychologist through the College of Alberta Psychologists.

    Jacqueline started her career working with special needs children as a behavioural strategist, she then went on to work with youth in group care. Most of her career has been in child intervention with a speciality in family violence work. Jacqueline has a good understanding of child development, complex family issues, abuse, and trauma.

    When not at work, Jacqueline enjoys spending time with her three children, husband, and giant dog. Whether it be camping, skiing, playing in the water, or staying cosy at home.

    Having a passion for giving clients a voice, Jacqueline has a gentle and encouraging approach. Starting therapy can be scary and difficult, and it can be a place for healing, growth, and can even be fun. Jacqueline, uses a variety of modalities that best suit the needs of her clients and works from a trauma informed and attachment-based lens. Offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Therapeutic Play, Solution Focused strategies, Strengths Based, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).     2008 and completing International Internships at, The China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in
    Beijing China and at the Open University in Colombo Sri Lanka, Lisa’s passion for learning has never
    stopped but is ignited by her commitment to support others.

    As an active member of the College of Acupuncturist of Alberta (CAAA) and a Fellow of the American
    Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine (FABORM), her high academic standards lead the way to a
    diverse understanding of TCM modalities utilizing Acupuncture, Cupping, Moxibustion, Diet Therapy,
    Herbal Medicine and Acutonics into treatments which seek balance of the physical, emotional and/or
    spiritual root of dis-ease

    Along her professional journey she has achieved specialized training, experience and passion in treating

She loves meeting new clients and works with them to improve their health and feel their best. Each treatment is tailored to a clients unique needs and requirements.     Michelle is a Registered Massage Therapist of 3000 hours in Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy at Makami College. She moved to Calgary 5 years ago from Burlington, Ontario and found her love for massage therapy shortly after.     Yuliya is a registered massage therapist with the 2200-hour diploma from the Professional Institute of Massage Therapy, CMMOTA member. She has an experience working in both clinical and spa-like settings.

    Mary-anne graduated in 2004 from Foothills College of Massage Therapy with 2200 hr program. She has been practing since that time here in Calgary and for 8 years in Toronto. She has practiced in Chiropractic and Physiotherapy clinics as well as home based business while raising her 2 boys.


    Mary-anne enjoys treating many different conditions and injuries. She strongly believes in seeing the body as a whole for healing purposes and genuinely listens to your needs and creates an individual treatment plan that will benefit your overall health and wellness. She has treated sports injuries (including many triatheletes) , pre/post natal massage, TMJ disorders and general maintence wellness. Cupping is something she is excited to add to your massage for increased healing.

    Danielle witnessed firsthand the benefits of massage therapy after a motor vehicle accident in 2012, which led her to pursue a career as an RMT so she could help others in need. She graduated from Vancouver Career College in Kelowna, BC in April 2016 with a 2800hr diploma in Massage Therapy. Danielle is registered with the MTAA and maintains her registration with the CMTBC. Along with her RMT diploma, she has her 200hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate to provide homecare exercises to her clients.

    Danielle uses a combination of Swedish massage, Craniosacral Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, firm pressure, myofascial release and joint mobilization to provide a relaxing and therapeutic treatment.

    She is well-versed in working with clients that have anxiety, fibromyalgia, MS, headaches or migraines, frozen shoulder, pre and post natal massage as well as helping patients recover from motor vehicle accidents.

    In 2009, I started my secondary education in the field of physiotherapy. In 2015, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Physiotherapy and worked as a physiotherapist at 22 Military Hospital of Health Resort and Rehabilitation in Poland. I moved to Canada in 2016, where I continued my education at the ABM college 2200h Massage Therapy program in Calgary. In my spare time I listen to music, hang out with friends, and enjoy jogging.

    Nia chose to become a Massage Therapist because of curiosity about the human body and after experiencing her first massage in Thailand and knowing the benefits of massage therapy in our body. Her main goal as a Massage Therapist is to help others to reduce their daily stress in life and body aches etc. She brings a positive attitude, and passion towards healing the human body with every client she treats.

    She is trained in General Swedish Massage, Therapeutic Massage, Deep Tissue, Trigger Points Release, Myofascial Release, Prenatal Massage, Acupressure tx for Headache, and Acupressure tx for Low Back Pain.

    Tara graduated in June 2013 from the 2200 hour program at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Tara has a strong passion for massage therapy and improving the quality of life for others. Tara has been trained in general Swedish massage, dynamic cupping, and has completed a head, neck and jaw master class and has developed a strong interest in working with people who have TMJ (temporomandibular joint/jaw) issues and/or headaches. She has also done outreach clinics for chronic pain and prenatal massage.

    Elisha graduated from Makami College with a 3000-hour Diploma in Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy. She is passionate about helping people feel their best and assisting them on the road to recovery with individualized treatment plans. Her favourite techniques to utilize are deep tissue techniques, trigger point therapy, dynamic & static cupping, Swedish techniques, and PNF stretching.
    Outside of the clinic Elisha spends her free time hiking, training for a sprint triathlon, and having game nights with her family.

    Vince became a massage therapist to help people ease their pain, to regain or maintain their mobility, and to relax and feel great. Pain-free massage therapy is the goal.

    Relaxation massages are therapeutic. Therapeutic massages should be relaxing. Deep tissue massages should also be relaxing. Feel better right after your treatment, not in a few days once you’ve healed from a damaging massage.

    Brandy graduated from The Professional Institute of Massage Therapy and is a certified member of the Massage Therapist Association (CRMTA).

    Brandy is passionate for people and wellbeing. Entering into this industry, Brandy's approach is from a very spiritual, client-centered, healing, empathetic and compassionate stand point. Brandy believes in "Self Care is not selfish. You cannot serve from an empty vessel". We need to remember that it is important for self care. Through therapeutic treatments, Brandy hopes to help improve overall health, reduce stress and improve muscle imbalances for a happier you.

    Brandy specializes in relaxation, TMJ massage, cranosacral therapy, deep tissue, fascia stretching, myofascial release, sports massage, trigger point therapy, healing touch, reiki, and post/pre natal. Brandy is certified in cupping as well.

    In her free time, Brandy volunteers with the Alberta Boxing Club. Brandy has been an official judge for the past 7 years and when not judging boxing matches, Brandy enjoys spending her time with her 6 reptile babies as well as flipping vintage furniture finds.

    Sonia recently celebrated 15 years with the Natural Health Practitioners of Canada. A seasoned therapist, her career has taken her from Jasper, AB; working in the town’s physiotherapy clinic and high end spas, to practicing alongside some of Calgary’s best chiropractors and physios. She trained at Foothills College of Massage and has treated all sorts over the years; from elite athletes, to senior stroke victims. Early on she chose to focus her energies on specializing in head injuries, concussions, TMJD, migraines and chronic headaches, developing a detailed approach to treating the structures of the neck, head, jaw and face. A mother of two herself, she has a deep passion for pre/postnatal treatment, working with folks to help them spend their pregnancies as comfortable as possible, while also teaching and encouraging self care before and after delivery. Working more and more with children and teens, Sonia knows the impact massage can have on their understanding of their own bodies and health. It can be a safe environment to subtly teach a child how to advocate for themselves, how important it is to take care of themselves, and that what happens to their body is their choice.     Catriona Keenan is a Registered Massage Therapist and a graduate of Mount Royal University. Catriona has been practicing massage therapy since 2011.     Torey Gollan is a Registered Massage Therapist and a graduate from Kootenay Columbia College of Integrative Health Sciences in Nelson, BC. Torey has a passion to use her massage therapy skills to help others feel their best by alleviating dysfunction, pain and stress. She utilizes swedish massage, deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, muscle energy techniques and joint mobilization to assist people in achieving their health and wellness goals. Torey moved to Calgary from Creston, British Columbia in early 2022. Torey is registered with MTAA and maintains her registration with CMTBC.     Sonya is originally from Cape Breton Island, NS. However, has called Alberta home since 2006. She studied at The Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, and graduated as a 2200 hour RMT in 2004.

    Modalities trained in include:
    General Swedish Massage, Advanced Deep Tissue and Trigger Point Therapy, Sports Massage, MFR techniques, Pre-and-Post Natal Massage.

    Kim is an RMT and a graduate of the 3000 hour Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy diploma at MaKami College in Calgary. She has been practicing since 2018 and excels at Swedish relaxation massage, trigger point release, myofascial release, cupping, prenatal massage. She is very passionate about catering each session to her clients needs, relaxing and relieving tension, working with them to reach the best results.

    Emma Rose Lontoc is a passionate RMT graduated from Makami College in 2019. She believes that the combination of nutrition, exercise, and massage are important for maintenance of optimal health. She provides an effective treatment and teaching proper home care to clients for lasting results. Emma has a wide range of massage techniques, acquired during her 3000 hours of intense training at Makami College including Swedish relaxation, neuromuscular techniques, trigger point release, myofascial release, deep tissue, hot stone massage, dynamic cupping treatment and therapeutic massage. She also implements the new variations that she learns through continuing education courses. Emma is pleased to offer every client professional care in a relaxing environment. During her free time, Emma enjoys being with her family, playing with her toddler son, baking and cooking.

    Renae is a RMT with a 3000 hour Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy Diploma from Makami College December 2018. Her passion is making people feel their best from Relaxation, Therapeutic and Deep Tissue Massage. When Renae isn’t working she loves to travel, from visiting her hometown in Newfoundland to fiends all over the world.

    Alysha (Aly) has completed her 3000 hour Massage Therapy Diploma though MaKami Colleges advanced program. She enjoys taking extra courses outside of school to better understand conditions and improve treatment plans for her clients. Aly has always been compelled to help people emotionally and physically with massage therapy being the way to do so. She offers relaxation massage, deep tissues massage, therapeutic massage, myofascial release as well as prenatal. Her goals are to promote positive changes in each of her patients health and well-being and to educate them to become more aware of their body.

    Outside of work she enjoys hiking, biking, spoiling her pup or just relaxing at home with a movie.

    Elaine graduated from Makami College with 3000-hour Diploma in Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy. She is educated in a variety of massage techniques including Orthopaedic Assessment, Myofascial Release, Swedish Relaxation, Cupping, Hotstone, Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Frictional and Migraine Therapy, TMJ Therapy, Pre & Postnatal, and treatment of soft tissue injuries as a result of motor vehicle accidents and athletic injuries.
    In her spare time, Elaine dedicates time for her family, gardening, and enjoys travelling and keeping up with world news.

    Elaine is currently pursing a Diploma in Foot Reflexology from the Pacific Institute of Reflexology. She has completed courses in Advanced Reflexology, Clinical Reflexology, and Professional Reflexology.

    Kim has been a Registered Massage Therapist for the past 25 years and throughout that time she has taken trainings in other modalities. She has been a Reiki Practitioner (21 years), Reiki Master/Teacher (18 years), Trager® Practitioner (21 years), and have completed several levels of Craniosacral Therapy work. Kim has focused on Shamanic work for the past 5 years and prior to that, several other modalities of energy healing. Best of all, she loves to teach Reiki as she finds it very helpful for anyone who desires to assist themselves with a tool for wellness and healing all aspects of life.

She incorporates relaxation & stress relief ways into her treatments because she believes it's an important part of wellness. She finds it rewarding working with her clients to reach a specific goal or to simply allow them to release tension & increase relaxation.

    Owner

    Craig Swarbrick is the Founder and Owner of Mama Massage. He spends most of his free time coaching his 2 children in both Hockey (Trails West) and Baseball (Calgary West Little League). Craig and his wife Jody came up with the idea for Mama Massage after he retired from a 10-year career in Law Enforcement to become a stay-at-home Dad. During his 5 years of raising their kids full-time, they saw a need for this kind of service that makes massage therapy available to everyone.
